The session will discuss the bidirectional relationship between mental health, epilepsy and psychosocial issues for people with epilepsy. It will examine difficulties for people with epilepsy that include psychosocial issues, stigma and independence.

This talk will cover a broad overview of anti-seizure medication side effects, including the most common side effects encountered by patients, and will review general principles in responding to medication side effects.

This seminar will review the FDA neuromodulation devices for treatment of epilepsy and their impact on quality of life including the improvement in mood, social functioning, memory and seizure worry.

A Guide to Self Care for Epilepsy Patients and Caregivers 

Dr. Emily Klatte, MD, MBA, OhioHealth

This presentation will discuss the importance of mind and body self-care. It will also discuss empowerment through rescue medication and seizure actions plans along with additional self-management tools.

Epilepsy is a chronic medical condition that impacts the entire family. We will discuss the factors that contribute to caregiver burden and explore resources that are available to help you cope.

Driving and Working with Epilepsy: How to Remain Safe and Retain Independence

Dr. Jaclyn Laine, DO, OhioHealth

This session will discuss what determines which patients require driving restrictions and ways to
communicate these restrictions. It will also help participants develop an understanding of medical
recommendations for activity restriction versus required reporting.

manage/treat co-morbidities related to epilepsy. It will review comorbidities and side effects of seizure
