This program is designed as a daily educational, vocational and recreational day program for people with epilepsy and/or developmental disabilities. The program is designed to foster independent living skills while cultivating friendships, creativity, and community inclusion.
Daily on-site programming includes:
- Academics: At a 1:4 Ratio, participants focus on individualized academics activities such as literacy skills, mathematics, and money management
- Fitness: Individuals participate in low impact activity daily. These activities include walking, stationary bikes, Chair yoga, Chair fitness, and group sports like volleyball.
- Vocational: Participants work on building vocational skills through tasks such as sorting items, following task instructions, and creating dog treats for Seize-a- Bone for Hope Project.
- Hands-On Projects: Participants work on creative art expression, weekly cooking classes, as well as cultural and historical research projects.
- Life Skills: Independence is encouraged throughout the day. All participants practice life skills through helping wipe down tables, sweep the area, take out the trash, wash and dry dishes, as well as help set up and clean up projects.
Individuals at our Program have the opportunity to go out in the community for a variety of vocational and recreational activities. One to two outings occur daily.
Off-site programming includes
- Peppermint Pig: A Volunteer opportunity where individuals greet customers and help organize inventory. Our program volunteers here biweekly.
- League for Animal Welfare: A Volunteer opportunity where individuals help with animal enrichment and fold towels. Our program volunteers here weekly.
- Koogler Eye Realty: A Vocational opportunity where individuals help with housekeeping including taking out trash, dusting, and vacuuming. Our program works here weekly.
- Cincinnati Type and Print Museum: A Volunteer opportunity where individuals use an old-fashioned print and press to make labels, flyers, tags and such for community organizations. Our program volunteers here monthly.
- Matthew 25 Ministries: A Volunteer opportunity where individuals help organize inventory and cross out barcodes. Our program volunteers here monthly.
- Impacting Tomorrow: A Volunteer opportunity where individuals greet customers and help organize inventory. Our program volunteers here monthly.
- Delivering Dog Treats: A Vocational opportunity where individuals deliver and replenish the dog treats that are made though the week to Dr. Short Podiatry and Everyday Cut and Tan.
- Supply Shopping: A Vocational opportunity where individuals practice the vocational tasks of shopping. They follow the supply list, look for the isle number, match the items to the list, and check out.
- Recreational: Recreational inclusion opportunities include Bowling at Batavia Bowl, Group fitness classes at the YMCA, Mall Walking, Visiting the local library, visiting the Cincinnati Zoo, Visiting the Aquarium, Time Warp Arcade, and visiting local parks.
The program takes place on a Monday through Friday basis in Clermont County. The program is staffed with a Qualified Intellectual Disabilities Professional (QIDP), Direct Support Professionals (DSP), Registered Nurses and a Program Manager.
